People suffering from a condition called hypotrichosis, have short eyelashes or may even have spaces on the tip of their eyelids where hair does not grow at all. The active substance in Lumigan eye drops, Bimatoprost is a precursor of a chemical substance found naturally in our bodies, prostglandin. Prostglandin is thought to be involved in the natural growth of hair by increasing the length of the period of active hair growth. Thus, knowing the fact that Lumigan eye drops contain Bimatoprost, we can state that Lumigan eye drops promote hair growth, hair thickening and will overall add up to the factors that help us maintain a healthy eyesight.

Dosage and direction

In order to use the Lumigan eyedrops to promote hair growth, do not apply it directly into the eye. For correct administration, use the aplicators which come in boxes containing 30 pieces. One box will last you an entire month. Gently use the applicator on the upper eyelashes. There is no need to use them on the lower eyelashes, as the liquid will diseminate from the upper ones when you blink. After application, gently blink a couple of times in order to ensure the spread of the liquid. If Lumigan eyedrops get into your eyes, there is no need to rinse because there will be no harm done. Please note that before applying the Lumigan eyedrops, your face must be clean and if you wear contact lenses, you should take them off.

Precautions

Before using this substance, tell your doctor about any allergies that you may have, as Lumigan eyedrops may countain substances that you may be allergic to. Also provide a full medical history: have you had any eye infections recently, are you already under treatment for the same disease but with a different substance, what kind of other drugs do you take on a daily basis.

Contraindications

Because of the fact that the effects of Lumigan eyedrops have not been fully studied on patients that have other underlying conditions such as: kidney disease, liver disease, heart problems, this drug should not be used if you are suffering from one or more of the above mentioned problems.
Also, this drug may cause a temporary sensation of a blurry vision. After you use Lumigan eyedrops please cease all activities and rest your eyes for at least 10 minutes. Do not continue your daily chores, or operating heavy machinery immediately after using Lumigan eye drops, as this may result in injury.

Possible side effect

Reported side effects of Lumigan eye drops have been: redness of the eyes, eye soreness, itching, swelling of the eyelids, dizziness, illusions, blurred vision, eye pain, headaches. If you experience any of these symptoms on a daily basis, please contact your physician.

Drug interaction

Lumigan may cause interactions when taken together with:
IOP Lowering prostglandine
Analog/Bimatoprost topical

Missed dose

If you happen to forget to administer the dose at the scheduled time, administer it as soon as you remember as long as it is not already the time for your next dose. Do not double dose.

If you are under the impression of having overdosed, seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.

Storage

The Lumigan eyedrop bottle should be stored in a dark place, where room temperature is below 25 degrees celsius and there is no moisture. Keep away from children as swallowing the substance may cause unwanted reactions.
